Our Values:
We Care About Children & Youth: Our programs are available to all young people. We believe children
and youth need special support to overcome disadvantages. The chance to offer encouragement and direction
comes as a result of gaining their trust.
Sense of Self Worth: We believe that an individual’s sense of self worth is fundamental
and strongly support this basic value.
Children & Youth Need To Be Heard: We believe that every young person has the right
to be listened to… to be heard and responded to, as someone who really matters and
as someone whose ideas could make a difference.
Acceptance and a Sense of Belonging: We acknowledge the need of all young people to be accepted and liked,
and to become competent, both among their peers and in the eyes of adults. We are sensitive to the isolation of the
individual who is different in any way, and we try to create an atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging
and acceptance.
Appreciation of Diversity: We encourage understanding and appreciation of diversity. Our programs are
accessible to all youth and reflect the ever-changing needs of youth and families in our community.
Empowerment & Potential: We believe that all children and youth have the right to maximize their potential
by experiencing challenges and responsibilities typical of healthy family and community life. Jericho encourages
community service, self-help and self-sufficiency by fostering autonomy and responsibility in children and youth.
Learning: We recognize that learning plays a significant role in the development of children and youth.
We support and encourage life-long learning.
Importance of Family: We recognize family as one of the most influential environments in which children
and youth learn and therefore Jericho strives to connect with parents/caregivers through timely and open communication.
Importance of Role Models: Role models are instrumental in the lives of young people. Jericho ensures
our qualified staff and volunteers model honesty, enthusiasm, fair play, respect, tolerance and forgiveness.
